UHMS congratulates Mrs. Kristin Roussel for being this week's Teacher of the Week! Let's get to know a little about Mrs. Roussel!
1. Where did you grow up? I grew up in Chatham, NJ - about half an hour from Union City.
2. Where did you go to school? I attended Chatham High School. Then I went to Seton Hall University to study Secondary Education/English. After beginning to teach at UC, I earned a Master's Degree at New Jersey City University. Following the Master's in Urban Education at NJCU, I began to study English Literature at William Paterson University.
3. What is one thing students don't know about you that would surprise them? If I were not a teacher, I would become a travel photographer. I love exploring new places and taking pictures.
4. What is a talent/hobby/collection you spend time outside of school hours? Obviously, I love reading! A true English nerd!! I like playing softball (retired, now...!) and watching the Yankees. But, I also love being outside - exploring nature, taking a hike, or going to the beach. Being outside makes me happy!
5. What is your favorite thing about teaching? My favorite thing about teaching is that no two days are the same. Every day is a new adventure - I could never complain that it is boring! Teaching middle school is a unique adventure; all of the personalities we get to interact with makes it not only challenging but so incredibly enjoyable!
Congratulations, Mrs. Roussel! Thank you for all you do! Keep up the great work! #UHMSTogetherAtHome
