April 2nd is World Autism Awareness Day. The purpose of World Autism Awareness Day each year is to increase awareness of autism in the world. According to the National Autism Association, Autism affects 1 in 59 children. The bio-neurological developmental disability usually presents itself by the age of three, and is more prevalent in boys than girls.
The Union Hill Middle School celebrated Pi Day with a series of exciting competitions for our seventh and eighth grade students. The festivities included pie-eating contests, three-point basketball free-throw challenges, "pie your teacher in the face" games, and math challenges highlighted by one student impressively reciting over 300 digits of pi from memory. It was a memorable day for our students and staff!
The Union Hill Middle School spread the St. Patrick's Day spirit by treating our students and parents to an unforgettable live bagpiper performance throughout the school and during our Parent Breakfast. Parents tried their luck at Bingo, winning prizes while enjoying a delicious breakfast and lively performances by our UHMS Band. It was truly an awesome day at Union Hill!
